Deeplight by Frances Hardinge

I absolutely loved this book. I finished the book in 2 to 3 days because I couldn’t put it down. It has this way of just holding onto you, pulling you in to keep on reading and seeing what happens next.

This book is about sea gods and two friends finding out the secrets about them and the ocean. The two friends, Hark & Jelt are scavengers that dives for a living to find relics of the gods called “godware” so that they can sell it for money. They are best friends but, their friendship is dark, misleading and unhealthy.

Something happened with their last dive and everything changed from there. Hark’s best friend Jelt became obsessed with a relic they found and it started to change him and not in a good way.

The relic wanted a new god and someone willing to accept its power.

The more Hark learned about the ocean and the secrets that lays beneath it he got scared for Jelt. He tried to help him but he didn’t want to listen.

This book will take you on a roller coaster and believe me you wont want to put it down. Every new page brings something exciting to keep you on your toes.

This book is a must read, believe me. If you like mythical stories about sea gods and the ocean you will love this book. I was quite upset when the book ended because I just wanted to keep on reading it.
